Because this post has come to your rescue by offering thoughtful and unique gift ideas for “her” that she’s guaranteed to love! “Her” also refers to you! Nothing wrong with buying an awesome gift to celebrate your remarkable self. #selflove

The gift ideas in this post apply to all ladies whether it’s your grandmother, mother, aunt, wife, daughter, sister, girlfriend, female colleague/boss, crush, yourself, ___ (fill in the blank). Also, the gifts can be presented for all sorts of occasions like birthdays, Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, etc.

Top 12 Gift Ideas for Women

The standard gifts for a lady/girl include cake, a teddy bear, flowers, a box of chocolates, gift cards, perfume, etc. All these are wonderful.

If you would, however, like to jazz up the next gift you buy or want to try something new, here are some unique and thoughtful gift ideas for the remarkable girl/woman in your life.

For your ease of convenience, the gift ideas have been grouped based on feminine interests:

  1. Art Lover

There are so many options under this category and it’s not just paintings. Personalised gift items like bracelets, throw pillows, Ankara jackets, and hoodies, are awesome.

See below two personalised gift items that I received and still treasure years after.

  1. Book Lover

The knowledge or information gained from a book can be life-changing or it can simply be a great way to relax or let your imagination run wild. This makes books a great gift. However, it’s usually best to gift a book to someone who enjoys reading so that the book doesn’t sit on the shelf unread and just gather dust.

Before buying a book as a gift, it’s wise to confirm the type of books your lady likes to read – autobiographies, novels, investment books, motivational books etc. I have received a wide variety of physical books as gifts on all sorts of subjects.

You have the option of buying a physical book, an electronic version, or an audio version. Some of the physical books that I have read personally and would recommend include The Smart Money Tribe (An African Woman’s Guide to Making Bank) by Arese Ugwu, Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers, Why You Act The Way You Do by Tim LaHaye, Waiting and Dating (A sensible guide to a fulfilling love relationship) by Myles Munroe.

Do check out my previous posts, to see my review of the book by Arese Ugwu and Charlotte Bronte. If you would like to buy the books, just click the images below (paid link).

For the audio version, one of the best versions on the market is Audible. You can get your girl an Audible subscription. This gives her access to a wide array of books.

Some of the audiobooks I have listened to on Audible and have retained in my Audible Library include:

  • How to Win Friends & Influence People by Dale Carnegie. Read by Andrew MacMillan (I love the reader. He makes the book come to life). Have a listen and let me know if you agree with me (or not) in the comments.
  • Unbound (My Story of Liberation and the Birth of the Me Too Movement) by Tarana Burke. Narrated by the author. The book is emotive and brutally honest about the author’s journey dealing with sexual assault, toxic relationships, racism, discrimination, and so much more but still coming out strong. Let me know in the comments if you’ve read or listened to this book and share your thoughts.
  • The Masterpiece by Francine Rivers. Narrated by Susan Bennett. The plot twists were unexpected in this redemptive love story. I listened to this novel repeatedly. It’s one of my best books by the author. Do let me know in the comments if you’ve read this novel or are a Francine Rivers fan.
  • Gay Girl, Good God (The story of who I was, and who God has always been) by Jackie Hill Perry. In this memoir, Jackie shares her experience with gender confusion and homosexuality and her journey to wholeness.

If you’re interested in listening to any of the books or getting it for that special someone, you can do so by clicking on the images below (paid link).

Better still you can access all these books and a lot more by clicking here to get an Audible subscription.

Did you know that Audible offers a free 30-day trial that gives you unlimited access to thousands of audiobooks, podcasts, sleep tracks, etc? Well, now you know!

  1. Vlogger/YouTuber/Content Creator

A vlogging kit is an awesome present to give to a budding vlogger, YouTuber, or someone who actively posts on social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram. It would normally contain a microphone, LED light, mini tripod, and phone holder.

Here’s a recommended product:

USKEYVISION VLOG K2 (Vlog K2) kit for YouTube, Tiktok, vlogging and LiveStream. It comprises a microphone, a TRS audio cable, a TRRS audio cable, a windscreen, a sock mount, a phone holder clip, a video light, a tripod, and a premium case bag. You can get this vlogging kit from Amazon by clicking the image below (Paid link):

  1. Loves Nature or Plants or the Outdoors

Rather than buying flowers that will wilt and be thrown away after a few days, you could switch it up by buying her a plant. There are so many options to choose from. You can buy indoor plants such as Peace Lily, Spider Plant, or herbs such as Basil, Thyme, and Rosemary.

Here’s a bonus for gifting a plant, when she sees it, she’ll remember You!

  1. Athletes/Woman on the Move

Getting a smartwatch or fitness tracker would be appreciated by an athlete or an exercise enthusiast. And not just any wristwatch, one that is stylish and designed for someone with an active lifestyle.

Personally, I use the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active which helps me automatically capture my workouts with its Advanced Auto Fitness Tracking feature. Other awesome features include being able to make/answer calls, create, view, and reply to messages. I sometimes use the music player controls on it to regulate what I am listening to.

  1. Music Lover

There are two gift ideas here for an avid music lover – wireless earbuds and/or a music subscription.

  • Wireless Earbuds

Wireless earbuds are a gift that will work for someone who enjoys listening to podcasts or audiobooks or running, jogging, cycling, working out, etc.

I use the Samsung Galaxy Buds Plus. It’s wireless earbuds that fit in-ear for isolation from distracting noises. This feature is balanced by the Ambient Aware feature which allows you to be in tune with your surroundings. I’ve had my Galaxy Buds+ since 2020 and I haven’t had any issues with it other than having difficulty using the Triple Tap to play a previous track. My primary reason for getting it was that I got tired of tripping over my wired earphones.

There are a lot of brands for different budgets. Some of them include Sony WF-1000XM4, Bose QuietComfort Earbuds, Apple AirPods Pro, and Beats Studio Buds.

  • Music Streaming Service

There are several music apps that give access to a vast music library. These include YouTube Music, Spotify, Amazon Music, Apple Music, and Deezer.

Personally, I use Apple Music on my android device. Check out the post, Apple Music on Android – A Startling and Euphoric Finding, to see why I love it.

Most of the music apps have a subscription plan. Apple Music offers a one-month free trial and then a monthly subscription fee of $9.99 for the Individual plan.

  1. Film Buff/ Cinephile

Surprise the movie fan in your life by getting them subscribed to one of the popular online movie streaming services such as Netflix, HBO Max, Disney+, Hulu, and Amazon Prime Video.

In case you’re wondering what a cinephile is, it’s someone who is enthusiastic and knowledgeable about movies.

  1. Gamer

Two categories of gifts here – Gaming consoles and Board games.

  • Gaming consoles

If your girl is a game enthusiast, how about getting her a game console? Being a gamer is all the rage. It’s no longer just a hobby for some but a full-time well-paying profession. Well-known video gaming consoles include PlayStation 5 (PS5), PlayStation 4 Pro (PS4 Pro), Xbox Series X, and Nintendo Switch.

Card games to consider include Whot cards, UNO, Jollof Wars, and Gidi Words.

  1. An Avid Pursuer of Personal Development

A great gift for someone who is keen on self-betterment and always on the lookout for tools and opportunities for personal development is a LinkedIn Learning subscription.

LinkedIn Learning is an awesome online learning platform that offers access to over 16,000 courses, a certificate of completion of each course, the ability to learn at your own pace, and full access to LinkedIn Premium.

I’ve taken several courses on LinkedIn Learning including Microsoft Teams Essential Training, Critical Thinking for Better Judgement and Decision-Making, Building Resilience, Working with Computers and Devices and so much more. All the courses were practical, worthwhile, and hugely improved my tech, business, and creative skills. I love that I can learn at my own pace.

LinkedIn Learning offers a one-month free trial. After the trial period, you will automatically be charged for a monthly or annual subscription (at your choice) unless you cancel.

For more information on how to subscribe, kindly click here.

  1. Humanist

A wonderful gift idea for someone who is altruistic or deeply devoted to the welfare of others is to donate funds or noncash items like foodstuff, clothes, books, etc in her name to an orphanage or non-governmental organization (NGO) or charity, whose cause she supports. You can also spend time with her at her favourite volunteer organisation.

  1. Cyclist

There are two gift ideas for a cyclist – get her a cycling app subscription or buy her a bicycle and/or a bike accessory.

  • Cycling apps

Some of the best cycling apps include Strava, Komoot, MapMyRide, Wahoo Fitness, Zwift.

Strava offers a 30-day free trial and then a monthly or yearly subscription. The free version of Strava offers recording of your activity, support for your device, social network, and beacon on phones. While the subscription offers you the ability to plan your route, the training log allows you to analyse your training at a glance and top brand discounts, and so much more.

If you’re interested in gifting a Strava Subscription, please click here to purchase a one-year subscription for her and you’ll receive an extra month of subscription-free for yourself. You can gift the subscription to anyone whether or not they are on Strava.

  • Bicycle or Bicycle Accessories

Depending on your budget, you can consider upgrading the bicycle being used by your female family member or friend.

Alternatively, you can purchase bicycle accessories for her bicycle. In my post, A Bicycle – Fundamental Facts You Need To Know, I list some of the must-have accessories such as bicycle lighting, bicycle pump, bell/horn, fenders/mudguards, bottle cages, kickstand, and bike lock.

You could also consider buying her a full cycling kit (apparel) – helmet, cycling jersey, cycling gloves, elbow pads, knee pads, cycling socks, water bottle, and cleats. Click here to see the Best Sellers in Women’s Cycling Clothing Sets on Amazon.

  1. Investment-minded

A great way to show that you’re committed for the long term or want to be a part of her future is to buy her income-generating assets like shares, cryptocurrencies, bonds, etc. Do check out my post, Investing – The Next Phase to Wealth Building, for more asset options that you can purchase as a gift. It shows that you’re financially savvy too.

Word of caution – Please carry out due diligence and consult a trustworthy financial adviser before buying an asset as you don’t want to fall for a scam or Ponzi scheme.

3 Tips on Buying a Gift

  1. Put yourself in the other person’s shoes when buying a gift. It should be something that the person will appreciate and not what you would like.
  2. Listen to the person as she may mention in passing something she needs or plans to get.
  3. Get the person something an upgrade of something she has and really likes or uses frequently.

What’s the best gift you’ve received or given that was really appreciated? And what’s the worst? Did I miss out on any exceptional gift ideas? Please let me know in the comments.
